GETTING STARTED

DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY TAB until you are ready to pair the device with your iPhone next to it, once you pull the tab you should hear the Airtag sound to initialise. IF YOU DO NOT HEAR A SOUND DO NOT OPEN THE BOX TO INVESTIGATE as the connection inside the tag are delicate and must not be tampered with. You may have to wait a few minutes for the tag to appear on your iPhone, opening the ‘Find My’ app can sometimes make it appear quicker. Once it does appear follow the onscreen instructions to connect your Airtag to your account.

INSTALLATION

DON’T FORGET TO FULLY TIGHTED THE SCREWS on the back of the case, make sure they have no play in them and the lid is firmly closed. Find a clean dry location to attach the device, strong double-sided tape is provided on the rear to help affix it to a clean smooth surface, otherwise, the screw holes can be used. Located the device where it can not be found, away from wiring where it might be traced and away from anywhere it might be heard.

SETTING AND RESETTING

AirTags require pairing with your iPhone account using Apple’s built-in ‘Find my’ app. Setup just like any other Airtag. Please use Apple’s online instructions for more details. When you are ready to start using the AirTag, remove the battery pull tab from the case, and the AirTag should sound to let you know its turned on, have your iPhone next to it with Bluetooth on, and it should begin to pair and setup, if it does not then give the unit a tap to wake it up. Once setup make sure the base screws are screwed down to create a tight seal on the back of the unit. Two are left loose so that you can remove the battery tab. If you need to reset the AirTag to pair with a different account, have both iPhones near the device and just remove it from your iPhone and it will automatically search for another iPhone to pair with.

TRANSFERRING CONTROL

Should you wish to transfer control of the device to a different iPhone account, simply have the new iPhone within range ready to connect and remove the device from your account. The Airtag will instantly look for a new account to be paired with and should then connect to the other account.

USAGE

Airtags MUST NOT be used to track other people or property not belonging to you. To help prevent misuse and illegal tracking, after a while, the Airtag will alert iPhone users if they are traveling with one that is not connected to their account, but that does not immediately help them locate it. They cannot stop it transmitting without finding it and removing the batteries, which gives you time to know if something has gone missing and relocate it. The Airtag will occasionally make a sound to help alert people to its location, you can activate this to help you find your device when nearby, this is very quiet within the sealed case.

Like all trackers, this is not going to stop someone from stealing your property, what it should do is give you an extra level of protection, as it does not need power or to be wired to the device it can be hidden anywhere that someone is not going to be looking for it.

WEATHER RESISTANT PROTECTIVE CASE

The weather-resistant case is designed to blend in with other equipment and protect the unit from the elements. The case has a seamless face and is sealed flush from behind with 4 small screws on its tight-fitting lid. Once the battery isolating pull tab has been removed and the AirTag paired with your iPhone, the screws on the base of the case will need to be carefully tightened so there is no play in the case. Gently press the four corners of the rear plate to ensure there is no play on the screws, and tighten as required. For the longest life, always try to install the unit away from areas of water, humidity and extremes of hot and cold. We recommend that the unit be secured to a dry flat surface, if necessary, with weatherproof tape along the edges of the rear case lid for extra protection. There are external screw mounting brackets on the case that can be used to further secure the unit. Please ensure the unit is located away from water and the extremes of temperature and humidity. It must NOT be located where it might become submerged, in the ground or near water.

LOW BATTERY WARNING

At some point in years to come, the AirTag will alert you to a low battery warning. However, unlike a regular AirTag battery, that low warning will come with up to x18 more life left than a standard AirTag battery, which means should your item go missing just when the battery is getting flat, you should still have plenty of time to find it. When your Airtag alerts you to change the batteries, the unit is designed for them to be easily replaced, just like any other electronic gadget. Use dental floss to cut through the double-sided tape on the back of the unit, unscrew the base plate and replace the batteries with like-for-like units.
